Безплатний Wi-Fi у місцях загального користування в багатьох містах Німеччини працює цілодобово, тому активісти та жителі пропонують вимикати WLAN мережу задля добробуту мешканців. Основними причинами такого рішення, є:
Wi-Fi хвилі, основа яких є електромагнітне випромінювання, несуть шкоду для здоров’я електрочутливих людей (порушення роботи внутрішніх органів, втома, сонливість, затягування процесу засинання).
Економія електроенергії.
Зниження шумового порогу на вулицях в нічний час, особливо в місцях скупчення людей.
Які міста обмежують користування інтернетом в нічний час?
З ініціативи місцевих мешканців планують вимикати безкоштовний Wi-Fi в нічний час з 23:00 до 06:00 (деякі до 07:00) в :
місті Равенсбург;
місті Ванген-в-Алльго.
На цей момент муніципалітети Баден-Вюртемберга офіційно не повідомляють про наміри інших міст вимикати інтернет в нічний час у місцях загального користування.
